Definition Ecological Footprint

The planet's resources and regenerative abilities are not infinite. The resources we use every day and the personal choices we make concerning them can have a profound compounding effect on our environment over time. However, there are many ways that we can choose to reduce our personal ecological footprint and promote environmental sustainability on a daily basis.

Energy Consumption

The energy that we use to light and power our homes and appliances quickly adds up. Besides turning off the lights when we leave a room, using low consumption light bulbs, and opting for energy efficient appliances, it is important to turn off the television, computer, and other electronics when they are not in use.

Try to use the central heat and air conditioning sparingly. Instead of always reaching for the thermostat, learn to dress in layers when at home and add or subtract clothing as necessary.
